What happened to the rise of hip hop fashion? Leave it to the hipsters, 20-somethings who wear tight pants and t-shirts. The super baggy hip hop style and super fitted hipster style extremes fused together to create, as Complex Magazine dubbed the term, “hopsters.” Brands like Stussy, Atticus and WeSC are popular amongst this crowd. When celebrities like Kanye West, Travis McCoy from the Gym Class Heroes and Pharrell Williams promote the trend, it’s sure to catch on. Marvin Scott Jarrett, Editor-in-Chief of Nylon Guys magazine, explains, “Skate culture and hip hop are merging into one style of dressing. Guys may wear an oversized hoody with skinnier pants; Hipster clothing is also sneaker-driven and that’s why there are certain parallels.”
